With a flank of computers, it looked like a multinational call centre where trained-in-Dubai freshers would get in touch with clients, collect information on them and pass them on to customer service agents who would then take the business to the next stage.
“In my office, the team leaders included ‘Thor’, ‘Loki’ and ‘Robin’ from Kerala, ‘David’ from Bangladesh, and ‘Rolex’ from Tamil Nadu,” says Rajiv (name changed) from Telangana’s Jagtial district, who worked in one such office in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
