Impact Report 2022-2023
We are proud to share our 2022-23 Impact Report, which highlights the progress and impact HRC has made in the last year!
From September 2022 to October 2023, we focused our research and efforts on countering the forced labour in the fraud compounds in Southeast Asia, campaigning against labour exploitations in the fishing industry, and championing survivor engagements in the counter human trafficking community.
Highlights include:
- Mapping the transnational criminal network behind the scamming compounds with the United States Institute for Peace (USIP).
- 9-week workshop with Winrock International, funded by USAID Asia CTIP, to equip young professionals in Asia with the necessary skills and knowledge needed to work on counter human-trafficking research projects.
- Engaging with key decision makers on behalf of ‘WIFI-Now for Fishers Rights!’ campaign with GLF-IRLF and other key stakeholders, which included a meeting with the Taiwanese Premier.
- Strengthening our relationship with ANIRBAN, by conducting a collaborative research project to enhance our collective understanding of the practices used by survivor groups that generate effective and systemic bottom-up change.
- Assisting survivors return home safely from the compounds, which included funding the return flight home for a Kenyan survivor.
As we enter our 5th year, we hope to continue strengthening our relationships, and build new ones, as we work towards combating human-trafficking and empowering survivors.
